Martha Barata
Born in Peso da Régua in 1988.
Completed a degree in Fine Arts – Multimedia at the Faculty of Fine Arts of
University of Porto (FBAUP) in 2012, having completed the 1st semester of 2011 at
School of Fine Arts of the Federal University of Bahia, Brazil.
In both institutions, he had the privilege of contact with Ceramics and
develop your personal project. Between 2014 and 2015, you improve your knowledge in
FBAUP and develops a project that ranges from tile painting to modeling
plastic, decorative and ornamental objects. The motifs of the Douro and Portugal are
protagonists, in a register that defies tradition, technique and history, through a
dynamic, feminine and contemporary language.
In 2018 he completed his degree in Cultural and Heritage Tourism Management at the School
Superior of Technology and Management of Lamego (ESTGL) of the Polytechnic Institute of
Viseu (IPV). In the same year, the studio was opened, where he sought to continue
develop your project, teach locals and tourists, and bring pottery and your region
further on.
Sheriff
Born in Gambia in 1992.
He studied and worked in the hotel industry between 2014 and 2019. The following year he began his
journey with Ceramics, where you discover the full potential of a material that
has been familiar to him since childhood. He is constantly looking for new challenges, different approaches and specializes in producing pieces on the potter's wheel.
He likes to challenge the limits of ceramics, looking for new formations that help
develop your project. In 2021, take a course on experimental ceramics,
learning about fire techniques like Saggar and Raku.
In 2024 he acquired the Craftsman's License.
Micaela
Born in 1998 in Lamego, Viseu. He is from Peso da Régua, where he currently lives.
Completed the 12th year of the Technical Course in Child Support at the Professional School of
Rural Development of Rodo. It carries out three internships in Training and Context of
Work, being fundamental for personal and professional growth. These
promote direct contact with the magical world of children, where everything becomes
joy, allowing you to live surrounded by creativity, imagination and the echo of your
laughter!
He begins his career in Ceramics in April 2022 at the Marta Barata studio: Studio,
Shop and School, where you learn, develop and experience the exciting world of
ceramics. He finds in modeling and painting a creative, intense and
the only one that culminated in obtaining the Craftsman's License in 2024.
